色の説明

呉須色（ごすいろ）とは、深く渋い青色のことです。色名の『呉須』とは陶磁器の染付（そめつけ）に使われる顔料の名前、または焼き物の「呉須焼き」に由来します。

呉須による染付は中国の景徳鎮から日本の伊万里に伝わり、瀬戸や京都など各地で焼かれるようになりました。また、ヨーロッパ方面にも伝わり、ドイツのマイセンで美しい青が開発されることになります。

呉須

呉須とは酸化コバルトを主成分とした鉄・マンガンを含む鉱石のこと。陶磁器の染付に使われる呉須はこの鉱石を粉末にしたもの。
中国の呉須鉱石の産地名から、日本では“呉須”と呼ばれるようになった。

一般に、呉須で磁器に絵付したものは「染付（そめつけ）」、粗雑な磁器に描かれると「呉須絵（ごすえ）」という。

呉須は高温で焼成することであざやかな青色になりますが、原料の混合率や焼成条件により、その色調が変わるため、『呉須色』もまた色合いに幅があります。

ちなみに、呉須と同じくコバルトを主成分とした顔料に『花紺青（はなこんじょう）』があります。ただし、こちらは油彩用の顔料です。

Gosu is an ore containing iron and manganese mainly composed of cobalt oxide. The pottery used to dye ceramic is a powder of this ore. From the name of the origin of China's Gosu ore, it has been called "Gosu" in Japan.

Generally speaking, those painted on porcelain with Gosu are called "Sometsuke", and they are painted on rough porcelain, "Gosue".

Gosu becomes beautiful blue by firing at high temperature, but its color tone changes depending on the mixing ratio of the raw materials and firing conditions, so "Gosuiro" also has a wide range of colors.

By the way, there is "Hanakonjo" as a pigment based on cobalt as well as Gosu, but this is a pigment for oil painting.
